Today’s blog post is about helping you realise that while self-development sounds so noble and elevated, as mothers, you don’t realise that this can be a silent subconscious act which happens everyday.
I have been clearing out my home and have come across numerous books which I have bought over the years on self-development. Don’t get me wrong, reading books is integral because ideas don’t pop into your head out of nowhere. We need to source ideas and books written by experts is ace but what is overlooked is the everyday interactions which build us from the inside out.
Honestly, motherhood is a priceless personal growth program. You become more patient, more resilient, more resourceful especially at 6am on a Sunday when you desperately need that lie-in.
I’ve decided that progress isn’t only measured by how many goals I tick off, but by how many crises I navigate without losing my sanity. That’s growth. That’s evolution. That’s emotional CrossFit.
I genuinely think mums deserve medals for character development alone. Some people attend silent retreats, I used to find serenity while stepping over Lego bricks rather than stepping on it and yelling in pain.
At the end of the day, self-development requires just a willingness to laugh, to learn, and to not take everything (including ourselves) too seriously.
If that’s not enlightenment, I don’t know what is.
Have a great week.
