An Australian mother has a tradition of emptying a jar on New Year’s Eve. The contents aren’t jam, or any such food items. The jar is filled with pieces of paper containing handwritten memories of happy things which happened to the family during the year.
The family practices gratitude on New Year’s Eve by recalling their good wishes and happy times. It is the most poignant story of gratitude that I have ever come across.
I challenge you to note down your achievements and things that you are grateful for. Far too many people are ready to write 2021 off due to Covid. There must be things that you would like to remember from 2021. Covid may have stopped us from going out and meeting people but that wasn’t the totality of my year. Think of ‘gratitude’ as akin to finding the jewels in your life.
