Remembering Stuart Hall at this time

As a midlifer, I call upon other midlifers to examine our own anti-black prejudices. My appeal is to midlifers because we are probably old enough to remember the theories which emerged in the 1970s, thanks to people like Stuart Hall, who sought to place racism within the context of history and the long arm of it. Stuart Hall spoke about the interactions between history, capitalism and neoliberalism and the way it perpetuates racism. He examined.the historical and nuanced ways in which discrimination and abuse occurs,

“There is no understanding Englishness without understanding its imperial and colonial dimensions.”
― Stuart Hall
