Even mums need a break. This heartfelt post explores why self-care matters, how rest sets an example for your children, and why pausing can bring more peace to family life.

I have caught a debilitating virus and, with it, guilt.
You know that mum guilt that creeps in the moment you stop doing everything for everyone? It’s like a voice whispering, “You don’t have time to be ill.”
We don’t have endless energy reserves, no matter how hard we try. And when we ignore our bodies, our kids learn to ignore theirs.
So I decided to show my daughter something different — that self-care isn’t selfish. That sometimes, mum needs a timeout, and that’s okay.
I hope she sees that healing yourself is part of loving yourself and your family. Because when we rest, we reset the rhythm of the whole household.
So this week, the washing can wait. Dinner might come out of a packet. But love? That’s still being served, one gentle breath at a time.
