According to a report in The Observer, Tory donors are worried about a no-deal Brexit. Donors are warning that a no-deal Brexit could trigger a recession or ‘insurrection’. Some have already reduced the amount that they would normally donate to the party.
Here is a thought. If the referendum was called to settle an internal Tory dispute over EU membership and, since then, if, as alleged, Theresa May has been putting party interests over national interests then logic dictates that Tory party donors who hold enormous influence and sway will have to be listened to.
Could it possibly transpire that these donors will, ultimately, have the casting vote over how Brexit is played out rather than our elected MPs?
